The Lovely List

I am sort of in love with the above photo. Isn’t it spectacular? K took it on a recent trip we took to La Push, Washington.

The coast at La Push was damp and wet, but welcoming and glorious all the the same. And, Maeve, a true sport during the long car ride, sparked our spirit of adventure and buoyed our courage to set out on more and more little journeys. We can’t wait to take her to the Tulip Festival in a couple of weeks time!

Traveling with a little one in tow wasn’t nearly as challenging as I expected. There are a couple of things, however, that might make it easier. Or, perhaps, these things might just make the experience that much cuter. They are, nonetheless, essential.

An adorable baby blanket to lay on the floor of the hotel or cabin. Who knows who’s been on those floors? Yikes.

A stuffed animal or pillow for tummy time.

favorite toy.Maeve loves Sophie.

Bottles. When it was impossible to stop and breastfeed, I was thankful for these wonderful bottles.

A natural pacifier. Maeve doesn’t use them all the time, but, sometimes, I thank my lucky stars for the soothing quality of a pacifier.

And, perhaps, in those quiet moments when the sweet hum of the car puts your little one into a dreamy sleep, you just might have a chance to work on the baby journal or book. It is, after all, on your list of things to do.

Enjoy. Safe Travels.

The photos! Just gorgeous. I didn’t know there was another US Tulip Festival. I grew up in Holland, MI and it is a very big deal there. Authentic Dutch costumes, parades and of course, lots of tulips :)

Thanks for your wonderful blog posts! I’m having a baby in June and the lists of things you’ve found useful are so helpful. I’m also very happy to see you’re able to take trips with a infant, my husband and I are hoping to be able to after our son is born. Beautiful pictures of La Push, the WA coast is beautiful, I have wonderful memories there!

La Push is one of our all-time favorite camping spots.

Please tell K that he has at least one customer, should he choose to make prints.

Maeve, by the way, cannot get any cuter. It will be illegal, and that just won’t do.

Two things. First, that Tulip Festival is now on my list of things to see in life. The 2011 poster image is wonderful; lovely colors and shapes. Second, tiny baby features!! Instant melt.

Is it very bad that the only time I’ve heard of La Push was with the Twilight books. I didn’t even know it was a real place!

That really is a gorgeous photograph. The trip also sounds lovely. We too have been thinking of taking D on his first, well second actually if you count the trip to grandma’s which required a 14hr plane ride. But M didn’t join us on that trip, so we’re thinking more of a family weekend getway just upstate somewhere..
